“Has a song ever saved your life? Cuz God knows it’s saved mine.”
~ Gabrielle Kennedy
Gabrielle Giusti Kennedy believes her passion for music must have began that hot August night her mother, while pregnant with Gabrielle, attended one of Elvis Presley’s last live performances.
“Elvis gave me the bug. It’s all his fault! He got to me first.” She says, “I’ve been highly aware of music for as long as I can remember.”
Gabrielle recalls as a child wanting to physically capture as much music as possible.
She would stay up late recording TV theme songs on her little cassette recorder & spend hours listening to the radio.
Gabrielle grew up performing in musical theatre.
By the age of 9, she held many starring roles – her favorites being Annie in “Annie” & Irma Dillsavor in “A Star On Broadway”.
She continued performing in musical theatre as well as numerous showcases, festivals, & events throughout her school years.
After receiving a college degree in Communications, Gabrielle went to work at CBS Radio Sacramento where she held marketing positions at KZZO, KYMX, KNCI, KSFM, & KTHK. This time greatly enhanced her music industry education.
During these years in radio, Gabrielle continued to perform & was super inspired by all the artists she met through the radio stations.
Gabrielle made one of the most important decisions of her life & quit this very “real job” in the music industry to pursue her own music career full time.
She had been forming the pop rock band, gabs court, with her sister Courtney. With all music & lyrics written by the girls themselves, gabs court officially arrived onto the pop music scene.
They had the honor of recording a body of original tunes with world class producer Derek “DOA” Allen (Tyrese, Brooke Hogan, Baby Bash, Lionel Richie).
As quoted by Tinderbox Music, “It’s easy to sense the natural chemistry between these sisters, with their relaxed, genuine feel, & soothing vocals. The clarity & musicianship the two use shines through in their laid-back rock feel, letting it get comfortable, but not predictable. Through their nicely blended, layered vocals, & calm accompanying instrumentals, these girls have found their stride!”
As the gabs court project gained exposure & recognition, Gabrielle naturally began collaborating & writing songs with & for other artists & really enjoyed it. She has gone on to sign multiple publishing deals for her work as a songwriter & turned gabs court into a music company which is now the home to – gabs court music, inc.
Gabrielle is currently writing, recording, & assisting in the development of artists in both California & Nashville.
She is also honored to be a Northern California coordinator for NSAI (the Nashville Songwriters Association International) where it truly does “All begin with a song!”
“Great songwriters don’t make everything all about them. Yeah it’s a lot about expressing your own emotions & experiences but there’s also a great deal of interpreting the human condition in general & trying to make some sense out of all this as well.”
